The oldest event on the Michelob ULTRA Golf Tour, the Sir Elford Cup is the event that proves which city has the best Tour players from top to bottom. Currently, the reigning champion is Phoenix, who defeated 21 other teams in Palm Springs in 2004 to take the Cup.
The 2005 Sir Elford Cup kicks off Championship Week in Orlando, FL October 3rd & 4th with an estimated twenty 12-person teams competing in a 54-hole, Ryder Cup-style format.
The three competitive formats for this year's competition are 2-person best ball, scramble and individual match play.
Each team will field 2 players for each flight. Matchups will be done by a blind draw for all teams for rounds 1 and 2. In the final round there will be a blind draw separately for the top and bottom halves of the field based on standings.
Rounds 1 and 2 will be split between Monday and Tuesday (27 holes each day). Details will be available soon on flights/courses/formats.
The final round will be individual match play and be a Tuesday morning shotgun.
Contact your local Tour Director for information on representing your city. If your city is not fielding a team or already has a full roster and you would like to participate, contact at the national office to register as a substitute for a team in need of a player(s).
